A Tribute to Macy
Macynne Hope Meadows or “Macy” as she was known to family and friends, was a little girl full of joy, love, and spunk. She was a sweet, hardworking 3rd grader who brought endless hope and joy to everyone she met. Macy was a daughter, a twin sister, a big sister, a granddaughter, and a friend to everyone she met. Her favorites included: Family, (especially her twin brother, Mack and her little sisters; Laynie and Kinley) and her Doodle Doggie, Murphy. She loved Dancing, Gymnastics, Crafting, Cheerleading, Running, Softball, Playing Piano, Smiling, and Sarcasm.
On June 14, 2016, while on her way to a softball game, Macy suffered an arteriovenous malformation (AVM) rupture, causing her brain to bleed. Despite the efforts of doctors at Grady Memorial and Nationwide Children’s Hospital, Macy passed away. In the evening of June 16, into the early morning hours of June 17, Macy gave the ultimate gift—the gift of life. Through organ donation, she saved the lives of two children (James and Jaxson) and two adults by donating her healthy heart, liver, pancreas, and two kidneys.
Before she died, Macy was learning to play “Stitches” by Shawn Mendes on the piano. She would run just for fun, (who does that?!?) and was often seen on the soccer and softball fields with a huge smile on her face. She was especially proud of her growing shoe collection and her overwhelming collection of stuffed animals. She loved all things glittery, animal print, and pink.
Her enthusiasm for life was contagious. We try to honor and remember our Mighty Macy Meadows every day through our work with Lifeline of Ohio and M3 Foundation (www.m3foundation.org; created to honor Macy’s legacy) as we share #HopeLoveandJoy with the world and #WorkHardSmileBeKind just as Macy did.
Macy, we miss you more than words can explain. We are proud that your legacy lives on through your organ recipients and your family and friends. We love you.

Words will never describe the impact Macy has had & continues to on a daily basis. Macys saved my son’s life & her heart continues to keep my son alive.
James went back on his 5th birthday to start the life saving surgery. Macy will forever be our hero. And, Macys family will always be dear to us. There will never be enough words to express how we feel about Macy & her sweet family.
