A life remembered

A Tribute to Elizabeth

Elizabeth Ann “Betsy” Kuba

Let me tell you about Betsy. She enjoyed being outside. Activities included walking, boating, swimming, bicycling and snow skiing. Just to name a few. She loved animals. Betsy was in 4H and FFA while in school. She showed pigs, vegetables, flowers, baked goods and crops at the county fair. Betsy loved the Delaware County Fair. Betsy graduated from OSU in March 2004 with a degree in Psychology. She had gotten engaged 3 weeks after graduation. She was working 2 jobs.

But on April 29, 2004 our lives were changed forever. Betsy suffered a brain aneurysm. Later that day she was declared brain dead. We made the decision for her to be an organ donor. She had signed up to be a donor when she got her drivers license. Betsy became a hero to 4 people. Her liver was severed and went to 2 people. A 37 year old lady and a little girl 8 months old. Her name is Elizabeth Ann too. 1 kidney went to a man. The other kidney/pancreas went to a lady.

Betsy was only 23 years old when she became a hero. Betsy enjoyed spending time with family and friends. And of course her cat Mittens. A funny memory of her. She hadn’t been driving long. She drove a 4×4 Chevy Blazer. It was winter and her dad told her if she was driving on snow to put the blazer in 4 wheel drive. Betsy was driving her younger sister to school one day. Along the way I guess there were patches of snow. So Betsy would stop and put it in 4 wheel drive and after she got through the snow on the road put it back in 2 wheel drive. Needless to say they were late getting to school. One of the most important things about Betsy is she loved the Lord.
