Honoring the life of Ronita Kay Geckle

From the time I was young, my sister Ronita included me in activities that interested her.  Through her interests she expanded my world through her love of travel, Broadway musicals, concerts, and music.  She shared her love of animals, especially her two dogs, as well as cooking, baking, and her knowledge of food science and nutrition.  She enriched so many lives with her love, support, and her presence.  Ronita had a giving heart through helping others, such as raking a neighbor’s leaves,  sharing her famous muffins and scones with friends and family, and sending emails or making phone calls to see how you were doing.  The poem In Our Hearts displays best how we move forward without Ronita.  We miss her, but we know we will see her again one day.

We thought of you today

But that is nothing new

We thought about you yesterday

And days before that too

We think of you in silence

We often speak your name

Now all we have are memories

And your picture in a frame

Your memory is our keepsake

With which we’ll never part

God has you in his keeping

We have you in our heart
