In Loving Memory of Our Sweet Oaklee

Oaklee was a wild, sweet, total boy’s boy who almost always had a dirty face and a giant smile. He loved playing in the dirt more than anything else, wanting to be outside all day long, zooming his big, muddy-muddy trucks through the grass and mud. He loved showing off his silly moves, constantly shouting “Tada!” with so much pride. When we could get him inside, he loved to watch Paw Patrol. He loved watching his favorite pups save the day with big, happy eyes—never knowing that he was secretly a real-life superhero himself, destined to save four real lives with his big, heroic heart.

He was happiest when he was tumbling, giggling, and roughhousing with his dad and his brothers. He loved his brothers and sisters so much, but he wanted to do everything just like his big brother, Atticus. Oaklee would watch Atticus’s every move and copy him like a little shadow, wanting to be just like his big brother.

He loved eating home-cooked food, especially the yummy meals made by his pawpaw. He would never, ever miss giving his mamaw a big kiss before she went to work, pressing his happy, dirty little face against her. But most of all, he just wanted his mommy. He was a proud mommy’s boy who loved her the absolute most, always wanting her to cuddle and love on him, giving her his warmest, softest love.

Our hearts hurt so much because we miss his sweet laugh, his muddy footprints, and hearing him proudly shout “Tada!” But our little boy is a real-life superhero now. Because of his profound gift, sweet Oaklee saved four lives through organ donation, giving them the chance to run, play, and live.

We love you to the moon and back, sweet Oaklee. Keep playing and saving the day in the sky. You are our hero forever and ever.
